Fire Extinguishers are essential to fire protection across any business or home in Northern Ireland. It is compulsory with the Fire Safety Regulations (Northern Ireland) 2010 that each company in Northern Ireland must have in their premises or vehicles. An extinguisher is often the first port of call in a fire, so having the correct unit in the right area is critical.

Installing a fire extinguisher is pointless if they are not maintained in good working order. FIRE EXTINGUISHER TYPES
Water Fire Extinguishers
Water is used in the case of all Class A Fires.
A Class A Fire Extinguisher is used on solids such as wood, fabric, paper, coal, textiles etc. SCT provide three types of water fire extinguishers, which come in 3-litre, 6-litre and 9-litre sizes – all of which are manufactured to BS EN 3: 1996 and are Kitemarked.
CO2 Fire Extinguishers
CO2s are used specifically for all Class B and electrical fires. The CO2 removes the oxygen from the blaze and replaces it with carbon dioxide. This makes CO2 Fire Extinguishers suitable for flammable liquids and where electricity is present.
SCT provides two options for CO2 fire extinguishers; they come in 2kg and 5kg sizes. Our CO2 fire extinguishers are Kitemarked, manufactured to BS EN3: 1996 and MED-approved on selected products.
Powder Fire Extinguishers
Powders are the most versatile fire extinguisher that is available. The Powder Fire Extinguisher can be used on Class A, Class B, Class C and some electrical fires. A Powder Fire Extinguisher is mainly used on fires that contain chemicals or oil as fuels.
SCT provides various powder fire extinguishers options; they come in 1kg, 2kg, 3kg, 4kg, 6kg and 9kg sizes. Our powder extinguishers are Kitemarked, manufactured to BS EN3: 1996, and MED-approved on selected products.
Foam Fire Extinguishers
Foams can be used on both A and B Class Fires. The Foam Fire Extinguisher removes oxygen from the blaze, eliminating one element from the fire triangle. A Foam Fire Extinguisher may be used on blazes that include wood, paper, textiles and liquid fires.
SCT offers various foam fire extinguishers; they come in 1-litre, 2-litre, 3-litre, 6-litre and 9-litre sizes. Our foam fire extinguishers are Kitemarked, manufactured to BS EN3: 1996 and MED-approved on selected products.
Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers
Wet Chemicals are only used on Class F fires. A Class F fire is caused by cooking oil and fats. What makes the Wet Chemical Fire Extinguisher the ideal choice for Class F fires is that it doesn’t react with the cooking oil or fat and putting out the fire. Wet Chemical Fire Extinguishers are best used in catering areas.
SCT offers two options for wet chemical fire extinguishers; they come in 3-litre and 6-litre sizes. All of our wet chemical extinguishers are manufactured to BS EN3: 1996.
